Getting Started

1

Install the app

Add the app from the Shopify App Store and approve permissions. The app needs minimal access—only files and product catalogs—so it can fetch and replace images.

2

Configure Settings

Auto-optimize runs automatically for new items. We recommend keeping WebP quality at 75 and max-width at 2048px, which is optimal for almost every e-commerce store.

3

Run Catalog Optimization

Click “Optimise all existing images” to process your historic catalog. The task runs safely in the background, allowing you to leave the page or close your browser without interruption.

4

Monitor and Restore

Check live stats on the Activity & backups panel. It details files processed, memory saved, and lets you restore any item back to its exact pre-converted state.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my images look worse?

At the default quality (75), the difference is invisible to shoppers while files typically shrink 30–70%. If you want even more safety margin, raise the quality slider to 85. And if you ever dislike a result, restore the original with one click.

What happens to my original images?

Before any image is replaced, the original is saved to your own store's Files (Content → Files in your Shopify admin). It belongs to you and never leaves Shopify. The Activity & backups page lets you restore any product — or the whole store — at any time.

Why does my Files page show two copies of an image?

The JPG/PNG copy is your backup; the WebP is what's actually attached to the product and served to shoppers. Only the WebP loads on your storefront.

Why wasn't one of my images converted?

The app skips images it has already processed, images that are already smaller than the converted version would be, and images you restored (so a restore isn't immediately undone). Restored products get a 'Re-optimize' button on the Activity page if you change your mind.

Does the app change alt text or metas I wrote myself?

Never. The SEO Booster is strictly fill-empty-only: it writes alt text, meta titles and meta descriptions only where they are missing, and never overwrites anything a human wrote.

What's the difference between Basic and Pro?

Basic ($7/month) includes automatic WebP conversion, bulk optimization, backups and restore. Pro ($14/month) includes everything in Basic plus the SEO Booster (alt text, meta titles, meta descriptions). Both have a 7-day free trial.

What happens if I uninstall?

Your images stay exactly as they are — optimized images remain optimized, and your backups remain in your store's Files. All data the app stored about your shop (settings, logs, processing records) is deleted automatically.
